Squeeze amd64 d-i images with Linux kernel 2.6.38.bpo
This is first release of backported Debian-installer for Debian GNU/Linux 6.0, Squeeze. You can download it from the place.
- Debian 6.0.1 based
- Kernel 2.6.38 (bpo.2)
Update #1: I updated images, as revision 0614. It is based on Debian 6.0.1 + firmware netinst. So, you don't need to make a memory stick to insert additional firmwares. Plus, this image includes new DHCP client which is fixed an interacting problem with some DHCP servers.
This ISO image doesn't include non-free firmware. You can take it from Debian official page (please see Debian squeeze installation information and look Section 2.2, Installation Guide). WPA support isn't implemented yet.
thank you for this backported Debian-installer
This found the Intel 82579LM network card so I could install on a Dell Optiplex 790.
Thanks for your work!
Will there be x86 version too?
Yes, I'm planning x86-32bit release when official 6.0.2 ISO file is released.
As far as I know, squeeze debian-installer supports ext4 already.
Sorry, I should have been clearer. The initrd on the ISO only contains support for FAT/VFAT and ISO. The rest is loaded from the CD. I'd like to boot the ISO from an ext4 (ext2 would suffice, I guess) partition using Grub2. Actually, I'd like to boot it from an ext4 partition on an md raid-1 volume, which might get converted into a raid-5 volume in the future. With lvm. =)
I suppose I could load a separate initrd, but it would be nice to have a self-containing installer ISO capable of booting in lots of different environments.
