Core2Duo

Windows Vistaや、Xgl/Xenなどのハイスペックを要求される検証・実験環境が必要になると思われたため、現時点で先端に近いCore2Duo塔載のPCを購入することにした。

インストールするものは、VistaのRC版、Debian GNU/LinuxのSarge(インストールテストのみ)、Sid(Etchインストール後アップデート)である。

ゴテゴテしたメーカ物はディスプレイ不要だしメモリ少ないし敬遠、DELLはでかい、パーツから構成するほど暇ではないし相性どうこうで悩みたくない、ということで、フロンティア神代( http://www.frontier-k.co.jp/ )のCore2DUo塔載カスタマイズ可能なスリムケースのPCを購入した。

値段的には悪くない。問題はVIAであること、Gbitじゃないということか。

9月21日到着。

  1. sata-via.cに1106 0591をパッチしたモジュールを作成し、別サーバのWeb環境に置いておく
  2. 20060806イメージでインストール
  3. ディスクが見えないエラーが出たらAlt+F2で裏へ
  4. wgetでsata_via.koを取得
  5. /lib/modules/.../drivers/scsi/sata_via.koを置き換え
  6. Alt+F1で戻り、sata-viaを選択
  7. インストール後、reboot前に裏にいって、chroot /target
  8. linux-image-2.6.16-2-486をインストール
  9. sata_via.koを置き換え
  10. update-initramfs -k 2.6.16-2-486 -u -v
  11. 表ではGRUBが失敗するので、grub-install /dev/sde
  12. update-grub
  13. /boot/grub/menu.lstパーティションを/dev/sde→/dev/sda化
  14. 必要に応じてWindowsパーティションをmenu.lstに追加
  15. /etc/fstabのパーティションを/dev/sde→/dev/sda化
  16. exit, Alt+F1
  17. ブートローダなしで継続、インストールの完了
  18. GRUBでは2.6.16-2-486のほうを起動
