Red-Hat based distros have much problems, they require kernel options "noapic acpi=off noirqdebug all-generic-ide nolapic" to prevent crash. Even (always with Red-Hat based distros), network card driver (b44) is really unstable in some high transfer load situations, causing a lot of call traces and sometimes kernel panic.
With Debian based distros, no need of kernel options, but not tested the stability of net with high transfer loads. (2010-04-02 00:52:03)
